“Art and Me”

Art has been a huge part of my life for the longest time. As a kid I would draw cartoons for people, and bubble letters for my friends. This interest evolved into something special over the coming years, until eventually all of my walls were covered by my drawings, paintings and random sketches. I grew so passionate about art, that I minored in printmaking after a late major switch from pre-med.

Art school was fun for me, but I always felt like I lagged behind others. I had little foundation training, and as a result, my art always lacked a certain polish. One of my professors took a particular interest in me and cultivated my style. He alone gave me the self-confidence to move forward.

Despite some challenges, I moved on to teach art for eight years. Those were eight of the best years of my life, and serve as some of my best learning experiences even today; kids are brutally honest in a critique.

After several attempts to re-connect, I am inspired again, and find myself learning, seeing, and trying like never before. Art is about inspiration and experimentation; comfortable with my evolution, flexibility, and style, I am armed to move forward as an artist. I hope that I get the opportunity to share my work here, inspire others, and be inspired as well. Enjoy and reach out.

As I share more and more of my art, you will likely notice my love for black and white media. This is my 1st attempt "this year" to break away from pencil in any real meaningful way. This portrait of Jay-z is not an original, it's copied from a picture I found on the web, though mine is admittedly a lot nicer :) For right now, I am calling it "The Blueprint."

I felt inspired to re-create this cover following an introduction to the album. Despite a return to the black an white nature of my work, this is certainly one of my newest favorites; The Grey Album is a 20x20 mixed media piece (marker and charcoal) Enjoy!

This piece is inspired by an awesome picture of a piar of old headphones, and my ever growing love for street Art; I really love the overall feel. I call it "Through The Wire," It's 30x30, spray paint on stretched canvas.

Lately I have been extremely inspired by Music, particularly Matisyahu. Given the many racial and Hate Crimes, I found his words inspiring.

Here's a smaller Matisyahu Portrait I did prior to the larger one.  I really love black and white and find extreme beauty in the subtlety of it's gradation. This is one of My favorite pieces thus far.

This piece continues my focus on musicians, and there is still a few more to come. The portait is my interpretation of Tupac Shakur, and is entitled  "Changes"   R.I.P Tupac

Walking Dead Sticker Collages... I have recently developed a love for Highlighting my stickers through collage using acrylic and/or spray paint.  These two are sold.
This is another of my collage efforts... It was shown recently in the "Press Start" Videogame show at a The FNDTN Gallery in Kensington Maryland.  This is a 14x18 wood panel collage completed using mixed media.  This piece is available for purchase.

This Piece is Huge... It is a 36 x 36 canvas painting inspired by daft punk.  The piece is was completed using spray paint and drip markers.  It has an amazing overall feel and is beautiful to see in person. This piece is available for purchase.

Music is a re-occurring theme in my art work...this beautifully designed piece was inspired by a sticker I bought on my trip to Hawaii, which you can see on the headphones if you look closely.  This work was completed on a 14 x 18 wood panel canvas using several media.  This piece is available for purchase.
This piece is one of my all-time favorites; It is composed of several of my hand drawn stickers and select comic scraps.  I created this for a friend as a way to showcase the stickers he purchased from me. This piece measures 14 x 18, and is mounted on wood panel canvas.  This piece sadly, is sold.
This sketchbook piece marks a big moment for me; The Captain America was my 1st large scale sticker and, and I combined this technique with an image transfer of cap as well.  Additionally, I will be reproducing it for sticker packs, which is the 1st time I have duplicated an sticker.  This piece is 8 1/2 x 11 on paper.  This piece is not for sale.

Here are some of my more recent Sticker mounting projects all on 5 x 7 wood panel canvas'.... and yes, these are all priority mail stickers!
